The Secret Place
I step into the rainforest of the Pacific Northwest. My senses come alive with the sights, smells, and the textures available to touch. My soul exhales, and my heart expands.
Surrounding me are ancient friends who tower and reach to the heavens in a glorious display. They are cloaked with a delicate green moss on their limbs, and I whisper apologies as my steps disrupt their sanctuary with the snap of a small twig.
Above me the yellow jackets are humming their praises in a cloud and I’m thankful they are unaware of my presence below as they go about their journey.
The colors circling me all come from the same family, each vibrant and saturated levels of green. I attempt to memorize each shade.
Forced from Eden, I’m confident that this is as close as we can come to walking in a garden in the cool of the evening with God.
